Political Futures is all about the future of politics. Offer your viewpoints, your opinions, your ideas. We will debate candidates, policies, parties, and anything else related to politics.

This is a non-partisan group, meaning that all political posts will be accepted no matter what the viewpoint or ideology, as long as they are written respectfully and honestly. The goal is to stimulate debate on important issues facing us all, and to offer an opportunity for all sides to present their case. Ideally, authors will post articles on specific issues (e.g., energy policy, national security, experience, etc) in addition to articles in support of particular candidates or parties. If you feel your candidate's or party's positions are not being adequately represented, then please post an article and represent them. Views on all candidates and parties are welcome, not just the two major parties.

Commenters are asked to remain respectful and debate the issues. Obviously there are passionate supporters of all candidates and those are encouraged. But focus should be on defending your positions and ideas rather than personal attacks of the candidates or other commenters. Honesty is required at all times. Articles that are obviously dishonest will be removed, as will members who are actively dishonest.

Again, all honest viewpoints are welcome and strongly encouraged.

Note: As with most Gather groups, I routinely feature articles that I think are particularly interesting or well-written and that epitomize the objectives of the group. It is the policy of this group only to feature articles that allow a free flow of ideas in real time. Since "pre-approval" of comments inherently causes delays - sometimes substantial - in comments appearing to readers, they defeat the purpose of featuring the article in the first place, i.e., stimulating dialogue. Therefore, articles that require comment pre-approval will not be featured.
